Another solid night by DeMelo again as well. With Chabot, Lajoie, Wolanin, DeMelo and Wideman we could have 5 of our 6 Dmen long term. Just need a first line RHD #FreeCeci |

The team is so much better without ceci, it’s insane that Boucher and dorion are obsessed with him |

I long for the good old days... where are the onsies that choke babies? and that creepy assistant GM? what about a cat fight played out in twitter? but most of all I think I miss those long boring explanations about Melnyk's recapitalization and imminent sale BS that dominated these spaces for so long... turn out it was just fan fiction.
Good for the on-ice Senators. Without question Melnyk/Dorion will have to figure out a way to get in front of this and screw this up, but for now, happy for Sens players and (some of) their fans. |

I liked Harpur's game last night. Jaros did not make any mistakes.
Lajoie 21:26
Harpur 21:13
Chabot 18:48
Borowiecki 18:01
Demelo 17:50
Wideman 10:27

we can say the same to you, considering your team is about to experience a Chicago level cap disaster......without having won 3 cups |

That tribute video to Emery... I remember watching that game on TV when I was like 17, the Sabres/Senators brawl. That hit me right in the feels. |

Good on the Sens and Habs for playing very well in the early going. Great to see what good coaching, players who give it their best effort and young legs that can skate can do.
Hope you prove all of the "experts" wrong and are in the playoff hunt come April. |

it was a good try by the Leafs, but its been proven you cant win a cup with good players in a cap system.
they should be tearing the team down soon |

just sayin, i took a look at some of the underlying stats and they were a lot worse than i expected. i guess if the Sens can get some .925 tendin all season they could stay out of the lottery |

they are getting the points and riding high but the low team shot generation and the team riding the highest shooting percentage 5v5 in the league, high team PDO.
Can it last for long? Who knows but usually teams come crashing down to earth with those sort of team underlying stats
Sens seem fun to watch at least, let the good times roll for now snagging up points |

True, the shots are concerning. Hopefully they can start to address that as the season goes forward.
At this point though as fans all we can really do is enjoy the wins and hockey, and development of the young players. |

when you have 30-35 mil invested in 3 players next year, we'll see how well they can keep the team together.
I'm sure when your president goes on TV and basically begs guys to take discount deals, it's a good sign that your cap will be easy to manage |

at this point the wins are fun, but irrelevant. I'm enjoying watching the young kids play. Chabot is tied for 6th in league scoring, while Lajoie and Tkachuk are 2nd and 3rd in rookie scoring.
still early, but all 3 look REALLY good.
if only Ceci can remain injured long term, and we can stop having harpur playing first pairing minutes, team should do better than expected. |

It feels good that this is pretty much the worst dig people can come up with about the Leafs at the moment.

who knows, that comes from Boucher if he will adjust or not. Start of the season is always so wide open with teams playing looser, trying to figure out if their rosters are for real, test run on Junior/prospects.
Normally, and logic says that shots will become harder and harder to come by as the season goes along and the games bc more and more important.
Its a fun ride, enjoy the youth movement no matter what. Thats how I felt after the Avs 48 point season. ..play the kids, just be enjoyable to watch, who cares if they are good or make the playoffs. They surprised and made the playoffs but all I wanted as a fun competitive team to watch and it looks like the Sens could be getting there with their kids. |

ofcourse not....right now it's a great thing
but like he said to us...enjoy it while it lasts, because the chances of them all being there next season is slim to none |

I don't think anyone is trying to suggest that you don't have a poop ton of fire power right now.....although your D is still suspect.
but your delusional if you think your GM will be able to keep them all together beyond this year.
most teams run into cap hell after winning a few cups (pitt, LA, Chicago, etc)....you guys are likely going to run into it before you even win one |

Washington recently proved you can win a cup after cap issues, and with a less than stellar Defence. I think (not certain), that Mathews Marner will be signing hteir big deals before they hit hteir prime, so they'll get better, opposite of some of the examples you provided.
Not saying there wont be complications, but I think you might be overstating them. |

Caps D core is pretty good with Carlson, Orlov, Niskanen, and Kempny. They are analytical darlings. You might not think there is sexy names there but they are a damn effective unit
Caps Dcore was more impressive than the Pens Dcore that won the Cup when Letang was out, but your point is valid |

I think a big question is what happens next year and beyond. So many people are focused on this year due to the lottery pick.
You play the young guys sure, but the question of where that leaves the team bares asking.
